FAQ

Everything you want to know before you book.

How do I book a cruise?

Use the booking page: pick your package, date, time and group size, get a reference straight away, and pay to lock in the date. You can also call or WhatsApp 076 071 5000. Bookings are essential; we do not take walk-ins.

How many people do we need?

A cruise needs a minimum of five people, or the equivalent payment. Couples and small groups are welcome and simply pay the five-person rate.

What does it cost?

Cruise Only is R300 per adult and R250 per child under 13 for sixty minutes on the water. Cruise & Braai adds a braai platter for R450 per adult and R380 per child. The Ultimate is R650 per adult and R570 per child for a ninety-minute cruise, a styled picnic setup, a braai platter and non-alcoholic drinks.

How long is the cruise?

Cruise Only and Cruise & Braai are sixty minutes on the water. The Ultimate is a ninety-minute cruise, and the picnic and braai happen on the shore around it, so plan for an afternoon.

What is the boat like?

A Latitude 190 by Natal Power Boats with a Suzuki outboard and a bimini top for shade. It seats a small group comfortably, and every seat comes with a life jacket.

Are life jackets provided?

Yes. Every guest, adults and children, wears a life jacket on board. We provide them.

Can we bring our own drinks and food?

Yes. Drinks are bring-your-own on every package, and Cruise Only guests bring their own snacks too. Cruise & Braai includes the braai platter, and The Ultimate adds the picnic setup and non-alcoholic beverages.

Can children come along?

Absolutely. Children under 13 pay the child rate on every package and get a child-sized life jacket.

Will you take photos of us?

Sometimes. Rim Cruise may capture photos and videos on the day for our social pages and marketing. If that is a concern, mention it when you book.

Where exactly is the dam?

Phobane Dam, also known as Goedertrouw Dam, is about ten kilometres outside Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal. We send a map pin with every confirmed booking.

What if the weather turns?

Safety comes first. If we have to cancel because of weather or water conditions, you choose between a new date and a 70% refund.

Can we cancel or move our date?

Yes, with notice. Five or more days before the cruise you get a full refund or a free date change. Two to four days before, a 50% refund or a free date change. Within 24 hours of the cruise there is no refund and no date change.

Can we celebrate a birthday or a proposal?

Yes, and we love it. Tell us what you are celebrating when you book and we will build the day around it. The Ultimate, with its picnic setup, is the popular pick for birthdays and proposals.

How do we pay?

By card online straight after booking, or by EFT to our African Bank account using your contact number as the reference. Payment is what locks in your date. If we have to cancel for weather or safety, you choose a new date or a 70% refund.

What should we wear?

Comfortable clothes, sunscreen and a hat. Bring a light jacket for sunset cruises. The life jacket goes over whatever you are wearing.

Happiness. Fun. Quality time.
